History of the Lakshmi Vilas Bank Limited (LVB):
The Lakshmi Vilas Bank Limited (LVB) was incorporated on 3rd November, 1926 under the Indian Companies Act, 1913. LVB obtains certificate to commence business on 10th November, 1926. It became a Scheduled Commercial Bank in 1958 getting the license from RBI.
Karur Mercantile Bank, Ltd. Karur and Kannivadi Bank Pvt. Ltd. amalgamated to The Lakshmi Vilas Bank Limited in 1961. LVB acquired the business of Trichinopoly Vysya Bank, Ltd., Tiruchirapalli and Tirirukkattupally Bank, Ltd., Tanjore in 1963. Salem Gugai Sree Krishna Bank, Ltd merged with Lakshmi Vilas Bank in 1964.
Lakshmi Vilas Bank took over the business of the Shri Nadiambal Bank (P) Ltd., the Kattuputtur Bank (P) Ltd., the Salem National Bank and the Salem Sree Ramaswamy Bank, Ltd., in 1965.
