GATE 2012 – GATE 2012 Notification – GATE 2012 Admission for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2012

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2012 (GATE 2012) is an all India entrance test for admission in post graduate engineering courses. It is jointly conducted by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

GATE 2012 Zonal Institutes:

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2012 is conducted through the constitution of eight zones:

  • Zone 1 - Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru - gate.iisc.ernet.in
  • Zone 2 - Indian Institute of Technology Bombay - www.iitb.ac.in/gate
  • Zone 3 - Indian Institute of Technology Delhi - http://gate.iitd.ac.in/GATE

The co-ordination and responsibility of conducting GATE 2012 is taken by Indian Institutes of Technology Delhi.

GATE 2012 Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates with bachelor degree in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) or final year students of these programmes may apply for GATE 2012.

Candidates with bachelor degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (Post-B.Sc./Post-Diploma) and final year students of these programmes may also apply for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2012.

Candidates with master degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and final year students in these programs can apply for GATE 2012.

Candidates of second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master’s degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology may apply for GATE 2012.

Candidates of fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master’s degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology may apply for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2012.

Candidates of professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India); AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) equivalent to B.E/B. Tech and completed section A or equivalent may also apply for GATE 2012.

GATE 2012 Exam Date:

Offline – Online

12th February, 2012 – 29th January, 2012

GATE 2012 Exam Pattern:

GATE 2012 exam shall comprise single paper of 3 hours duration for 65 objective types of questions carrying maximum 100 marks. Candidates have to mark on the correct choice on an Optical Response Sheet (ORS). GATE 2012 exam pattern shall follow negative marking for each wrong answer. Each paper shall have a General Aptitude (GA) component of 15 marks in GATE 2012 exam.

GATE Admit Card 2012:

GATE Admit card 2012 will be made available to download only from the zonal websites from 2nd January, 2012. No admit card will be sent by the post. Candidates must bring GATE 2012 Admit card at the exam centre along with original photo identification (Driver's license, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, College ID, Employee identification card, or a notarized Affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address). No candidates will be permitted to take the test without GATE 2012 Admit card and valid photo identification.

GATE 2012 Results:

GATE 2012 results are made available through GATE websites of IISc and Seven IITs. GATE 2012 result is scheduled to release on 15th March, 2012.

Validity of GATE 2012 score is 2 years from the date of announcement of the GATE 2012 result. Candidates should check GATE 2012 results after 15th March, 2012.

GATE 2012 Admission:

Eligible candidates need to register and fill Online Application accessing the GATE websites of IISc and seven IITs to get admission in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2012. Candidates may get admission in postgraduate programmes with MHRD and some other Government scholarships/assistantships in engineering colleges/institutes qualifying in GATE 2012.

GATE 2012 notifications were updated through official websites of GATE for admission in postgraduate programmes in engineering.
